We are seeking an experienced Meteorologist to provide analysis of wind energy projects and other wind related activities, as well as provide input to the Finance and Development teams to achieve Clipper's goals. Duties and Responsibilites: Establish and execute a plan for the installation of existing/future meteorological towers based on Clipper’s annual goals. Coordinate meteorological tower maintenance as needed. Review all data for completeness and consistency, verifying quality and reporting inconsistencies / errors. Establish and execute a monitoring plan for Clipper SODAR units, coordinating all installations and data analysis with consulting meteorologists. Wind Data Analysis and Reporting. Manage and maintain primary responsibilities with meteorological consultants, reviewing their reports and coordinating inputs to their processes. Provide ongoing meteorological analysis and reporting, including updating and maintaining vital wind databases. As applicable, work with wind forecast modeling companies to formulate resource estimates using Meso scale modeling techniques. Project Support: Provide input and analysis for new project site identification, identifying and characterizing site topography and wind resources. Develop turbine arrays; Participate in micro-sitings. Coordinate turbine suitability analyses with in-house specialists and third party consultants. Support optimizing studies for rotor diameter, project life and project economics. Provide support for project due diligence, acquisitions or joint ventures. Development Team Member: Work as the subject matter expert within the Development team and on cross-functional content to design, develop, test, implement, and maintain weather-based tools for Clipper. Develop and represent presentation standards and guidelines for the use/display of meteorological information. Establish and update a monthly wind portfolio report that provides vital wind resource characteristics for all Clipper monitoring sites. Utilize knowledge of weather business objectives to analyze, recommend, and provide guidance for new ideas for product and process improvements; develop, test, and implement improvements. This is a new position so you would be joining our experienced team of weather professionals. We prefer a college degree (or its equivalent) in meteorology, atmospheric science, or a related field. Experience as a television meteorologist is also preferred. These qualities are a must: ability to work well in high stress environment under deadline pressure; flexibility to work nights, weekends and changing schedules; experience as an on-air communicator of urgent weather information; experience interpreting weather radar data.
