Details: Job Description JOB TITLE: Meteorological Tower & Data Manager LOCATION: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania REPORTS TO: Director of Wind Engineering Department Position Summary/Accountabilities • Accountable for coordinating with Development Department to meet milestones • Simultaneously manage multiple development processes in a highly dynamic environment • Provide solutions among management, staff and third party vendors • Recommend decisions to optimize economic viability of projects • Accountable for working within budget constraints Job Functions • Gather wind data on a weekly basis • Process and verify quality of wind data • Update and maintain vital wind databases • Update and maintain met tower aspects of project database • Coordinate purchase of met towers and installation processes • Attend, supervise and approve installation processes • Identify and solve operational problems on the met towers • Identify and characterize site topography and wind resources • Prepare and provide information as required to internal and external clients • Other duties as assigned Physical and Environmental Requirements The Meteorological Tower & Data Manager will work primarily in an office setting. However, the position will require extensive hours traveling within the USA to met tower sites. The main reasons for traveling include met tower installation location approval, supervision of installation and maintenance/repair of towers. Task 1 - The TS will be required to research and compile environmental, geotechnical, and survey information for each project site. Most of these sites are located throughout central and eastern Pennsylvania. The TS will perform a field reconnaissance of the site and take photographs using a digital camera. Mileage will be paid at $0.485/mile (current PennDOT rate) for use of a personal vehicle, otherwise a company vehicle will be provided. After the site visit, the results of the field reconnaissance and the research will be compiled in a short summary write-up (1-3 pages) and the photographs downloaded onto the computer with captions. Task 2 – The TS will be requested to perform other office duties to include, but not be limited to, data entry in Word and Excel, mail merge of letters, compilation of Certified Mail letters, collating and copying of reports, making deliveries, archiving plans and files, and other relevant environmental and engineering tasks.
