- Thanks to all of our members for their hard work!
PWAD 2017 was a huge success and we couldn't have done it without you!
We look forward to doing it again in 2018!
Welcome to the Community Outreach site of the Millersville University Chapter of the American Meteorological Society. A primary goal of the 2017-18 officers is to raise community awareness about meteorology. In order to accomplish this task, we are striving to expand our audience throughout the Lower Susquehanna Valley, beginning on campus and continuing into area elementary and middle schools.
9th annual Public Weather Awareness Day (PWAD) 2018
Every year in April, our local chapter hosts a day devoted to teaching the public about weather. Meet meteorologists from a variety of fields, see yourself on a live green screen and learn more about how weather works. Admission is free for all ages! Visit our website for more information.
Members of the MU-AMS Community Outreach committee travel to schools all across the Lancaster county region several times each semester, presenting information about the weather. The presentations are grade-appropriate and often perfectly coincide with classroom curriculum. More information.
Meteorology is one of the most popular majors at Millersville University, with well over fifty new admitees every year. The new Met-Mentor program will seek to help smoothly transition the new Freshmen into a MU Meteorology community through fun and informative activities at the beginning of the year. More information.
Besides students, the MU-AMS periodically reaches out to the general public with special AMS-sponsored speakers and events, such as National Weather Service SKYWARN training events. More information.
