LATEST FORECAST (Update two or three times per weekday, and on some weekends, holidays and semester breaks.) |
DISCUSSION:
In the wake of Monday night's cold frontal passage, another deep
trough, or dip in the Jet Stream, will swing through the Northeast and
mid-Atlantic States during the middle of the week. As a result, it
will be much colder this afternoon with highs in the mid 20s to perhaps 30°F. A
moisture-starved disturbance may bring a few flurries to northern MD
and the Lower Susquehanna Valley this evening, but most areas will
remain dry. Partly-to-mostly cloudy and unseasonably cold conditions
are expected on Wednesday with highs once again around 30°F.
Temperatures will bottom out in the teens the next two nights. Factor
in west-to-northwesterly winds of 12-25 mph with gusts of 30-35 mph,
and wind chills will be stuck in the single digits and teens through
at least Thursday morning. Dress in layers, bundle up, and stay warm!
Another fast-moving disturbance will traverse the Commonwealth on
Thursday and bring snow flurries or scattered snow showers to
south-central PA. Most areas will receive no accumulation, but a slick
coating is possible in the South Mountain Range and some spots north of I-76 and
west of I-81.
